The land of Maharana - Kumbhalgarh Fort! Things to keep in mind while Visit Kumbhalgarh Fort
Second largest fort in Rajasthan
The fort is majestic - built on a hill in Rajsamand district-it is the second largest fort in Rajasthan. We reached the fort around 5 pm and took a guide from the entrance. The guide was very knowledgeable and very polite. We reached the top of the fort at the time of sunset -the view at that time was amazing. We also attended the light and sound show at the fort which started at 6.15 pm and was for an hour.In my opinion, the best time to reach the fort is around 4 - 4.30 pm, take a guide who will tell you the history and anecdotes and then attend the light and sound show.
The entry ticket for the fort is Rs 40 per head and Rs 118 per head for the light and sound show.
Senior citizens or people with disabilities may have difficulty to climb the fort and therefore should give it a miss - but they can definitely attend the light and sound show which is quite accessible for all.
Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh Fort
Visited Kumbhalgarh Fort with family? We have started the journey from Udaipur. There is two part of the road trip. Udaipur to Jaswantgarh is the nice road. But after Jaswant Garh main road is via villages. I was very tired in driving due to road condition. After sayra village road condition is very poor. Fort is in a very interior location. spend more time in driving only. Feel good after reaching the place. Fort is very Big and wide. We enjoy well. Take a nice click and returned in the evening.
Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh Distance - Approx 75 Km
Hidden Fort with Hidden Pleasure
Kumbalgarh, a hidden fort surrounded by a series of mountains, was constructed as a secure place from any invaders. After the mountains, there is wall constructed as the second tier of safety circle. This is named as second longest wall after the Great wall china but it is the older one and better preserved than the later one.
Third Tier is the huge mountain with a narrow approach where Fort starts. Nobody could have captured this fort. Only brutal Mughals with help of insider captured this Fort.
Nevertheless, history has gone by but the breathtaking views on top of Fort are what for we had traveled so long. Amazing view, amazing history.
Advice: Book a cab/taxi from Udaipur and keep all the way to your trip. Hilly area not conducive for self-driving where traffic at tourists spot, parking problem, better knowledge of reaching the desired destination than Google. Also, book a guide to relive the history at that historical place plus assistance in photography especially for couples.
Breathtaking beauty at sunset!
A must to see the place to see in India! We visited it at sunset and walked along the wall to enjoy the views if the fort. It was like a postcard, incredibly scenic. Loved it.
